Prichard wildlife control tip of the month:
There many different repellents to obtain in order to prevent skunks from entering your property.
Some of them are more dangerous and made with chemicals and the others more animal friendly but
still have some effect.
Natural home repellents
These repellents are more natural and even though they are skunk friendlier, as oppose to the ones
filled with chemicals, you still might get the job done and annoy them a little.
Cayenne pepper is one of those Prichard animal control repellents and it would drive skunk away, if it´s sprinkled near its
den. The rain of course diminishes the Prichard animal trapping effect and you need to reapply it.
Another smell that bothers them is the smell of citrus. Citrus peels, as orange or lemon are quite
effective. Locate skunk´s hereabouts and place peels heavily to those locations. It will most certainly
start to avoid those locations. The smell of peels lasts for quite some time; at least until they start
to decompose. After the skunk has been driven away have you need to place the fence as soon as possible.
Hot Pepper Spray; cayenne pepper can be used also to make a spray. Include one chopped onion and add some
jalapeno peppers and boil for about 20 minutes. Use a spray bottle for this Prichard pest control mixture and skunk will avoid
places sprayed with mixture. However, you must repeat the procedure of spraying every four days and
immediately after the rain of course.
Store bought repellents
A lot of different kinds of Prichard wildlife removal repellents can be bought in stores. Many of them are quite dangerous or even
poisonous to other living creatures nearby. Be very careful and maybe do some research before placing it
to your yard and around the house. Besides being harmful, their effectiveness can be questionable as well.
Here are some less harmful skunk repellents you might use.
Predator urine can be somewhat effective. You can sprinkle the urine of dogs, coyotes or some other predators in the
vicinity of skunk´s den. This repellent is quite easy to obtain, can use your own dog to mark its territory on some
strategic areas to repel skunks away. However, be careful that your dog’s urine doesn´t stray dogs to your premises
Ammonia and moth balls might be considered as a possibility how to repel little creatures, but it´s not as long-term
solution. Skunks have very highly developed sense of smell and quickly learn to know the difference between the real
danger and a fake one. Rain can easily wash away the ammonia and it has to be reapplied over and over again.
How effective repellents really are?
All of these repellents, such as lights, sounds, several natural repellents and chemicals can repel skunks for a while
but it´s not a final solution. Skunk will return and will just find another way. The only permanent Prichard exterminator solution that really
works is to trap it alive and physically relocate it away from your property.
